How to Self-Administer Your NAD+ Pen Injection at Home
Follow these step-by-step instructions for safe and effective use of your NAD+ Pen:
1. Clean Your Hands
Wash thoroughly with soap and water or use hand sanitiser to ensure a sterile environment.
2. Prepare Your Kit
Unpack your NAD+ Pen Kit and confirm you have everything:
- Auto-injector pen
- NAD+ cartridge
- Micro-needle
- Alcohol wipes
- Sharps disposal bin
3. Let the Cartridge Reach Room Temperature
If refrigerated, allow the cartridge to sit at room temperature for a few minutes to reduce any potential injection discomfort.
4. Assemble the Pen
- Remove the pen cap
- Unscrew the cartridge holder
- Insert the NAD+ cartridge with the silver tip facing down
- Reattach the holder securely
5. Attach the Needle
- Take a new micro-needle
- Remove its packaging
- Screw it firmly onto the tip of the pen
- Keep the needle cap on until you’re ready to inject
6. Prime the Pen (Only for first-time use with a new cartridge)
- Twist the base of the pen to 15 units
- Press the dose button until the plunger reaches the grey rubber stopper
- Remove the needle cap
- Hold the pen upright and press the dose button in 5-unit increments until all air bubbles are expelled
7. Set Your Dose
Turn the dial at the base of the pen until the pointer aligns with your required dose — typically 30 units (0.3ml).
8. Choose an Injection Site
Select a fatty area such as the abdomen, upper thigh, or buttocks. Be sure to rotate sites with each injection to avoid irritation.
9. Clean the Injection Site
Wipe the area with an alcohol swab and let it dry completely.
10. Administer the Injection
- Pinch the skin at the chosen site
- Insert the needle at a 90° angle
- Press the button at the base of the pen to release the NAD+
- Hold the pen steady to minimise bruising
11. Complete the Injection
Wait 10 seconds after the dose meter reaches zero (0), then gently remove the needle.
12. Dispose of the Needle
Place the used needle in the provided sharps bin for safe disposal.
13. Store Your Kit Safely
- Replace the pen cap
- Refrigerate NAD+ cartridges in the included travel case
- Keep the kit out of reach of children and pets
The recommended injection sites are the stomach (abdomen), outer thigh, and the back of the upper arm. It is important to rotate the injection site each time you use the product to avoid skin irritation, bruising, or the formation of small bumps/nodules.
Important Guidelines
- Subcutaneous Use: The micro-injectables, both in the injection kit and the NAD pen, are specifically intended for subcutaneous use (just under the skin into the fatty layer), not for intravenous or intramuscular use.
- Rotate Sites: Always select a different site for each injection to minimise potential discomfort or irritation
- Follow Instructions: Adhere to the complete instructions provided with your kit or pen for safe and effective use.
- Consult a Professional: If you experience any persistent irritation or have underlying health conditions, consult a healthcare professional for advice.
